Mat Class

In the month of October, the Mat Classes used the Magic Circle. The Magic Circle is a fanatic prop that teaches the body control. It’s not about trying to break the ring by way of squeezing; it’s about using the Small deep muscles to control the stabilization of the body. When used properly used with the core, some big strides can be made in your Pilates practice. So, if you need more of the “control” part for your body, get yourself a magic circle and start using it in your home program.

In November we are back to no props Mat Classes. You use the muscles, the awareness, and the knowledge you learned with the magic circle and apply it to your own body while doing Mat. To Sign up for a class click the link

OPVL

The monthly videos have been uploaded to the OPVL. This month the classes are using Free Weights. You only need 1-5lbs and if you have ankle weights you can use them as well. Quick overview:

  • Level 1: “Power Mat” is a 30–35-minute workout that will have you challenging your whole body. An extra prop you may need is a Big Ball for quadruped position.
  • Level 2: All about splitting the body in half. This “Unilateral Workout” is 20-25 minutes. You will be guided on how to learn self-assessment while doing the workout. This great for everybody.
  • Level 3: “Add a Little Weight” is a 40-45-minute-long workout that helps the body build more strength to help support the body in the advanced exercises.

10-minute Workout “Abs with a side of Free weights” if you loved the “Standing Abs” quick video you will love this workout. This quick video will utilize all of the core muscles while adding the strength component. This is also great for balance work as well.

If you find yourself needing to take your Pilates with you, Click here to sign up for a 3 day trail.

I hope everyone finds joy, happiness and fun in the coming season.

What a fabulous Year for the studio. So many new faces came into the studio by way of Workshops, Privates and Mat Classes. If that was you, I hope you had a great experience here and we’d love to see back in. For those who are regulars here at Heidi’s Spot give yourself a pat on the back! You have come so far, more self body awareness, becoming stronger, having a better understanding of the Pilates method, getting out of pain and of course the BIGGEST part- YOU DID NOT QUIT!! You pushed past all the discomfort and hard stuff. You are more flexible, stronger, and more in control of your body. I am so proud of you and again, it’s what keeps me teaching. Seeing bodies change, finding new hope and the commitment that you put in makes me want to come along beside you and help meet your goals. Thank you again for trusting me to help you. May you have a Wonderful Christmas and New Year with people you love.

The more you are thankful the more you can see things to be thankful for. In this season of Thanksgiving, I have to first start off with my Family. I am so thankful for my family’s love and support. We are in a really great season with our kids and it warms my heart that we seem to be seeing and being with each other more this past year. As the kids are growing up and doing their thing, Peter and I now can go and do our own thing. It’s like dating again, I am here for it. Pilates, oh man am I ever thankful for Pilates. After my injury back in July, I was so thankful that I now know a fellow instructor here that was able to mentor and train me. 3 Months later because of constant Pilates practice and doing my homework for my injury. It was as if it never even happened. You! I am so Thankful for you! For your trust in me with your Pilates practice, your commitment to your practice and to the studio and for your encouragement to me! Together, we can get your body feeling the best. Thank you again. I know life can throw us curve balls of disappointments and set backs, and maybe in a moment in time we need to feel that so that when we are done processing them, we can find the good and give thanks for where we end up. May you find thankfulness in your life not just today but every day. Happy Thanksgiving, Heidi

Hello Everyone If you were looking for perfect walking weather it is here and now! I have been enjoying my walks. My Body differently needs a good stretch and roll out after. I usually set my timer for the amount of time I have and I roll out my Quads, IT bands, hips and glutes. I don’t have to spend a lot of time, I mean I could, but a little goes a long way. Then I get my standard leg stretches in, Hamstring, IT band, hip and Quads. If I have extra time, I’ll do my calves as well. If I didn’t do these things, I would be feeling it later… The tightness would start and discomfort will set it. The enjoyable walk will something of past. Now because I cared for myself after, I know I’ll have a nice night’s sleep. We do Pilates because it teaches us how to care for ourselves.

Hello Pilates Enthusiast! Seriously I am asking myself where May went. My daughter’s schedule was and still is jam packed with activities back to back. Phew- June starts the busy time at the Pilates studio with young athletes coming in for their privates, time off and of course taking my daughter to her summer activities. I’m going to run down the summer schedule, but I will also send out quick reminders of them when we come up to them. Lastly, as always the vagaro schedule will be a true reflexion of my schedule, so if that day, time isn’t open, that is what that means. If I need to open up my Friday morning to accommodate schedules, I am open to doing that during the summer months. As always, if you need your expiration date pulled out due to my time off, please let me know. The clients whom I charge, has their expiration date pulled out since I know when I’m gone when I charge them.

I hope that the New Year has found you new hope in whichever area of life you need it. For me the New Year kicked off with some challenges of illness but it was gone and out of my system within a few days… but low and behold a sinus infection came to visit me. I haven’t had one of those in a long time. Gave me a bit of a questioning of all things, but once I got over that hump of reminding myself of some truths, I was able to jump back into things. Have you ever gotten off track with things? Since we are all things Pilates here, have you ever found yourself getting off track of your Pilates routine? If so, you are not alone. I’ve definitely gotten off track. The first thing I did was recognize that I wasn’t in my Pilates routine. I also notice how my body felt, what my mood was like and what I was thinking in my mind. I had to carve out firstly, mental time. Thinking about how good I would feel after my workout helped me carve out 5-10 minutes. Maybe it was my breath practice, maybe it was simply lifting my pelvic floor when doing the dishes, but those small steps helped me get back on my mat, then to the reformer; finally, back into a good solid workout routine. Once I got back into my Pilates routine, I noticed that I can handle things good or bad, that come my way. My body feels strong, my mood is a lot more leveled and my thinking becomes more positive. Sometimes, the beginning of this process is hard, but give it once a week, then twice and before you know it, you will find your groove. Of course reading it and saying it is much easier than doing it, and that’s where I come in. In person or online I am here to help you get started and to keep you going. Have you been off track before? How did you get back on track? I would love to hear about it to cheer you on or to congratulate you.
