I hope that the New Year has found you new hope in whichever area of life you need it. For me the New Year kicked off with some challenges of illness but it was gone and out of my system within a few days… but low and behold a sinus infection came to visit me. I haven’t had one of those in a long time. Gave me a bit of a questioning of all things, but once I got over that hump of reminding myself of some truths, I was able to jump back into things.
Have you ever gotten off track with things? Since we are all things Pilates here, have you ever found yourself getting off track of your Pilates routine? If so, you are not alone. I’ve definitely gotten off track. The first thing I did was recognize that I wasn’t in my Pilates routine. I also notice how my body felt, what my mood was like and what I was thinking in my mind. I had to carve out firstly, mental time. Thinking about how good I would feel after my workout helped me carve out 5-10 minutes. Maybe it was my breath practice, maybe it was simply lifting my pelvic floor when doing the dishes, but those small steps helped me get back on my mat, then to the reformer; finally, back into a good solid workout routine. Once I got back into my Pilates routine, I noticed that I can handle things good or bad, that come my way. My body feels strong, my mood is a lot more leveled and my thinking becomes more positive. Sometimes, the beginning of this process is hard, but give it once a week, then twice and before you know it, you will find your groove. Of course reading it and saying it is much easier than doing it, and that’s where I come in. In person or online I am here to help you get started and to keep you going.
Have you been off track before? How did you get back on track? I would love to hear about it to cheer you on or to congratulate you.
In the coming weeks I will be setting up a fundamental workshop that will help beginners and those who need a refresher on the exercises to help get you back into Mat Class. Be on the look out.
This month in Mat Classes we will be using the Magic Ring. I love this tool because it helps bring the body into the center, it also works the deep muscles and helps with alignment while doing the exercises. Remember the key is to NOT OVER SQEEZE the Ring! Keep the shoulders back and down, and to move the pelvis when the time is right. The Ring is to help with stability and control. Below are a set of pictures of the incorrect way to squeeze and the correct way. Can you see the different? If not look at the set of exercises and ask yourself, which one creates length, center and brings the body to alignment. I’ll give you answer, the second picture of the set that are correct. One last thing to notice is how my fingers are long and I'm pressing from my palm.
This month I am launching the first of the Magic Ring Videos.
Another thing I am going to launch for my online video members is a free 15-minute zoom. They will be offered every 6 weeks. Durning our zoom together you can ask questions, get clarification and give feedback suggestions. I want to build this Library that will give you the best Pilates videos for you. If you have a question someone else might have to same one. I will be e-mailing out a separate letter that will give you the details on how to sign up for your one-on-one zoom.
